Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear colleagues,

Please find attached the First Announcement for the Third Black Sea Commission (BSC) Scientific & Final UP-GRADE BS-SCENE EC Project Conference, which will take place in Odessa, Ukraine on 31st October - 4th November 2011. The Conference participants will be invited to take part in the International Black Sea Day Activities on 31st of October, registration will take place on the same day. Working days of the Conference will be 1, 2 and 3rd of October, on 4th of October social activities will be organised. The short name of the Conference is 'Black Sea Outlook', the long name (see the attached document) reveals the main objective of the event: Let us work together towards better protection of the Black Sea. You are kindly invited to consider registration and submission of Abstract/s as soon as possible but not later than 1st of June 2011.

Participation

Please feel free to distribute the announcement to any interested parties - scientists, policy- and decision-makers, students, NGOs, private sector, etc.

Important Dates

First announcement: February 2011, including call for abstracts.
Second announcement: April 2011
Deadline abstracts: 1 June 2011
Deadline papers: 15 September 2011 (only submitted papers before the Conference will be evaluated for possible publication in a special edition of a selected Journal, EU or as a BSC publications).
Announcements will be uploaded on the BSC website as well (http://www.blacksea-commission.org).
The Registration Form (together with the Abstract, if any) should be sent electronically to the address of the BS OUTLOOK Conference (secretariat@blacksea-commission.org) as soon as possible but not later than 1 June 2011. The subject of your E-mails should be 'BS OUTLOOK Conference'. Or you may alternatively use the on-line Registration and Abstract submission on the WEB page of the Conference http://www.blacksea-commission.org/_3BSCConf.asp, which is the preferable option by the Secretariat of the BSC. The on-line Registration and submission of Abstracts will be opened by the end of this week. Detailed information on arrival/departure, preferences for accommodation and participation in social events will be requested in the second announcement (April 2011).
Financial support
A number of young researchers/PhD students will be fully sponsored by the organizers. The selection will be based on the quality of the Abstract proposed. Requests for financial support should be submitted to the Black Sea Commission Permanent Secretariat (secretariat@blacksea-commission.org) not later than 1 June 2011. No application will be accepted after this deadline.
